Saturday, June 21 -- 2 p.m. The North Carolina Country Music Festival will be held Saturday, June 21, 2008, at Fort Fisher Air Force Recreation Area in Kure Beach , N.C. The headliner for this year’s event will be country music recording artist Joe Diffie.

SJAFB squadrons merge forces
Monday, Feb. 4, marked the deactivation of the 4th Mission Support Squadron and the redesignation of the 4th Services Squadron. History was made as the two squadrons merged forming the 4th Force Support Squadron. Through this merger, the organizations will streamline processes, increase efficiencies, maximize customer service and cut costs associated with maintaining two separate organizations.

The new squadron has five flights: Force Development, Manpower and Personnel, Airmen and Family Services, Sustainment Services and Community Services.
